How to Request a Letter Packet (Reapplicants)

Once you have received ALL desired letters of recommendation on your letter tracker account, you are able to send them to your application. This is done by requesting a letter packet on letter tracker. The steps for this process can be found below.

1. Requesting a letter packet

**Do not request a letter packet until all your letters have been received!! Application services will only allow us to send one packet into your application. That means you can only send one letter packet to TMDSAS, one letter packet to AACOMAS/AADSAS, etc. All letters you select in your packet will be sent to all schools within that application service. As you know, each of the schools have different letter requirements. You will have no problems if the minimum letter requirements for each school are met within the letter packet you send. a. First, sign into your letter tracker account. Switch over to the "Packets" tab at the top of the screen. And select "Request a packet" at the bottom of the page. This packet of letters will be sent to all schools you are applying to, within that application.

2. Select the Destination

a. You are given the option to send your letter packet to AACOMAS (AADSAS for dental students), AMCAS, TMDSAS and other. Remember, you can only send one packet to AACOMAS/AADSAS, AMCAS, TMDSAS.

"Other" packets are most commonly used for military scholarships but can be sent to additional places in special circumstances, please contact the letter secretary if you need to send a packet to a specific school or service.

3. Link your letters to your application!

This step is very important in helping to link the letters on your letter tracker account, to your application. Please follow the instructions closely.

a. After you select a destination for your letters, instructions of what to enter into your application will be generated. Below are the specific instructions for the different application services. Please follow the respective instructions for the application service you wish make the request from. You can do this by selecting the name of the application service on the tabs below.

b. Log into your AMCAS application, and select the "Letters of Evaluation" section, then "add letter of evaluation/recommendation."

c. Select "Letter Packet." Enter an identifying name for the letters. And select "Brigham Young University" as your school.

d. Enter the following information into the next step:
First Name: David
Last Name: Kaiser
Address: 3328 WSC
Country: United States of America
State: Utah
City: Provo
Zip Code: 84602
Phone: (801) 422-3044
Email: healthprosec@byu.edu
Once finished, your page should look identical to that shown below.

e. Next, enter the first and last name of your letter writers included in your packet. Then click "Save." It will ask that you generate a letter request form, we do not need this, but we advise you to download the request for yourself as there will be helpful information for the next step.

f. Back on letter tracker, enter in your AMCAS Letter ID and your AAMC ID. These can both be found on the letter request form from the previous step. Or you can find your AMCAS letter ID at the bottom of the letters of evaluation section (with the request you just made.) And your AAMC ID if you click on your initials at the top right of the AAMC page, then "my account." Be sure to double check that these ID's are correct.

b. Log into your AACOMAS/AADSAS application, and go to the "Evaluations" section. Then select "Create Evaluation Request."

c. Enter the following information under the "Evaluator's Information" section.
Are you requesting a committee evaluation: Yes
First Name: David
Last Name: Kaiser
Email Address: healthprosec@byu.edu
Due Date: Enter any date (this will not effect how fast your application is processed)
Personal Message to Your Evaluator: only letter secretaries will see this
Once finished, your page should look identical to that shown below.

d. Finish the "Waiver of Evaluation." We recommend that "Yes," you do waive your right of access to the evaluation. Then save the evaluation request.

e. Back on letter tracker, enter in your AACOMAS/AADSAS ID (CAS ID). This can be found under your name in the top right of your screen.

a. Log into your TMDSAS application, and select "Letters of Evaluation" near the bottom right of the page.

b. Select "HP Committee Packet." Be sure your institution is Brigham Young University. If your page does not look like the page shown below go to the "Colleges Attended Question" section on your application. You will need to release your information to BYU.

c. You will be asked if you want to send an optional letter. Select No or Yes. And click "Save & Continue." If you have questions about the additional letter, see the FAQ page found HERE (Can I send additional letters to the application services?).

d. Back on letter tracker, enter your TMDSAS ID. This can be found at the top right of your page, directly underneath your name.

4. Select the letters you want included in your packet

a. On letter tracker, you will select which letters you want included in your packet. Only the letters you have received can be sent in your packet. All letters in the packet will be sent to all schools within your application. Select your letters in the order of strongest (first) to weakest (last). (Strongest letters generally come from those who know you best.)

AMCAS will accept up to 6 letters in a packet
AACOMAS will accept up to 6 letters in a packet
TMDSAS will accept up to 4 letters in a packet
AADSAS will accept up to 4 letters in a packet
If you want to send additional letters, or send letters separate from your letter packet, please see the Letter Tracker FAQ page "Can I send additional letters to the application service?" This is useful if you have collected letters you do not want sent to every school.

b. You will now enter your contact information. Please use an email you use frequently. If there are issues with your request, you will be notified through that email. The faster you respond, the quicker your letters are sent.

c. Be sure you entered the appropriate information into your application, and click "submit" on letter tracker. (This will send your packet to the letter secretary, where your letters will be reviewed for formatting and major errors.)

5. Continue to request letter packets

a. you will need to repeat the above steps for EACH application service you plan to send letters to. If I am applying through AMCAS and TMDSAS, I will create one request for AMCAS and create another request for TMDSAS.

Your packet will be reviewed, and sent to your application within 3-5 business days. Please plan accordingly.
